Snipe Didn't Work? Fri Jan 25, 2013 06:16 PM Quote

Hi, I set a snipe for an item with a starting price of £5, maximum snipe of £6.76 & 6 seconds.

The auction ended with no bids and the snipe didn't work.

Is it possible to find out what went wrong? I was viewing the item on ebay whilst the auction was running. Would that have caused the snipe not to work?

I checked the logs and it appears there was some network lag around that time. The lag was short, but enough for the snipe to miss.
Does not seems like it was on Myibidder's or eBay's side, but somewhere in the middle.

Although, this is rare, but happens sometimes. I'm sorry it affected your snipe.

P.S.: Viewing item during the snipe used to cause issues in the past, but it does not cause issues now. So it should not affect it.

I have had the same problem several times in the past few weeks. It's more than a server lag. I don't trust it anymore.

ssocr,
This is not the same problem. If you check the "My Status" field of your snipes, you will see the following reason:
"Refused login (password problem?)"

As you probably aware, you recently changed your eBay password but never logged in with your current eBay password to the sniper.
There is no way for the sniper to bid on your behalf without having your current password. This is not possible:
http://www.myibidder.com/login/faq/2/#q6
That's fine if you don't trust it, but there is no other sniper which can bid for you without your password.

My bad. You're right. I did not see the status. Thanks.

But should mybidder not reject the bid instead of accepting it when the password does not match the eBay password for the corresponding eBay ID?

BTW, how do i check the status?

But it did reject it, that's why you see such status.
That's your responsibility to keep it in sync. Myibidder can't do it on its own because it does not know your password.
If you set your email in the Profile, you will also get email notifications about it.

You can see the status by loging in to http://www.myibidder.com/

Thanks for all your help. I had not logged into mybidder.com for so long that I forgot all about it.

Hello!

I already wrote this yesterday, however, it looks like the post is gone. Sorry in case you get it twice.

My e-Bay ID is urs_photograph , and I sniped the auction Nr. 281056653706 .

My question is: Does myibidder bid even if the previous highest bid is already higher?

I am wondering, because I thought, it would do so, and even if my bid is lower, I would get a Mail from eBay saying, that I did not win.

My question is, because I'd like to be sure that my next snipe works, which is tomorrow.

What makes me worry is, that sniper sais: "My Status: Current bid is higher than your snipe". This is not true for tomorrow's auction

Anyway, it is true for yesterday's auction (the one I lost).

The second question is, how do I know to which auction the status line refers? There is just one status line. How to know the status of all snipes?

Please let me know. Thanks! Urs

urs_photograph,
Your post is there, please don't create duplicates. I even answered it:

Also, please don't respond to unrelated topics because it confuses readers.
