The "Snipe it" which appears on the item screen just above the line with the Description tab, Share, Print, report etc. no longer seems to work.(see screenshot)

Previously clicking this would open the myibidder bid screen for completing the bid, but now it does nothing.

I can however open the myibidder screen with the Firefox right click context menu and also from the toolbar button.

That's because you disabled pop-ups. You have to enable it if you need "Snipe it" pop-up working again.

I'm not sure that's the problem, as it's still happening when in Firefox I have Tools/Options/Content/Block Popup Windows UNCHECKED.

I guess you have some other add-on which prevents pop-ups. Try to disable all add-on except Myibidder and restart Firefox to check.
Then enable one by one to see which one is causing the issue.

P.S.: JavaScript must be enabled too.

It looks as if it might be Tab Mix Plus add-on.

I haven't changed any settings in TMP for months, but, on the other hand, Firefox has gone through several versions (8, 9, 10 at least, but subversions) so that may have affected it.
