A few odd problems with www.myibay.com Sun Sep 12, 2010 11:02 PM Quote

Hello,
In my usage of your site I've encountered two suspect
quirks of which I though you may be able to explain.

One most obvious relates to an auction I've recently won
(320587404277) which in the "My Bid" column appear as
"No" vs. the typical US dollar amount of my maximum bid.
The "My Bid" block appears in green indicating a won
auction, however I'm unclear what the "No" label is trying
to convey.

Also I've loaded your Firefox plugin and do mostly find
the "Snipe it" icon on the right side of the page.
However often it is not present and I have no idea what
causes it to sometimes appear and other times not.

Could you shed some light on the above issues?

Thanks,

-UG

I'm not sure what's your question here.
The "My Bid" column is where you set your snipe. "No" means that your snipes in the Group were cancelled because your group met the requirements (you set it to win 1 item only).

If you could please provide me with a link where you don't see the button, I would be glad to take a look.

Ah, I see. Use of "No" seems somewhat confusing. Maybe
"complete" or "group complete" would be more intuitive
in this context.

It is intermittent. Currently I don't find an auction
item where the "Snipe it" icon is missing but it
surely occurs. Could be a correlation to the platform/
version of FF I'm using which is:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091027 Fedora/3.5.4-1.fc12 Firefox/3.5.4

Thanks.

If you put your e-mail into Profile, you will get an e-mail notification saying the Group was completed.
Currently, this is the only place where you can see it.

It works fine on Linux x86-64. The only guess is that the page did not finish loading as the add-on kicks in when page finished loading only.

I noticed that and an incomplete load is what I'd
originally suspected. But I verified the page had
fully loaded when the "Snipe it" icon was absent.
FWIW this was a stock Fedora 12 build of firefox.
I'll follow up if I have anything concrete to add.

Thanks.

I tested with Firefox 3.6 on FreeBSD and CentOS 5.
When you follow up, please make sure you save the eBay link so I'll be able to replicate the problem (if any).
