What's BBCode? Bulletin Board? Like using *this* for italics?

So it means Button Code? What's the extra B? Bay? Basic? Or is it just arbitrary because it sounded cool? Board Button?

Believe it or not, I used this kind of stuff on the Apple II in Apple Writer! I used to be on GEnie BBS and Compuserve before it turned into a monster.

The HTML code is not allowed because of possible abuse. That's why BBC is involved.

Not even strict BBCode (from your reference), like:

<color=red>Then again, </color> (or with brackets) [color=blue]maybe [/color] [color=green]I can.[/color] [size=15]Or can't[/size]
